Sentinel uses tasks to represent investigation work and public health actions. A task may represent an interview, a data-quality check, follow-up, quarantine or isolation.
Tasks can be created manually or from configured templates and assigned to users. Templates can specify instructions, priority and due-date intervals, with disease-specific configuration and inheritance through disease hierarchies.
A task can include an assigned survey. The survey may collect interview responses, patient information or the information required to complete a data-quality activity.
Operational functions include:
- Creating, assigning, starting, completing and cancelling tasks.
- Reviewing due dates, overdue work and individual assignments.
- Recording call attempts and interview progress.
- Presenting configured instructions and calculated information within surveys.
- Reviewing allocation and progress through supervisor views.
Tasks provide a record of the action required and its recorded outcome. The meaning of completion depends on the task type, instructions and information collected.
