Addresses and jurisdiction assignment

Retain case-specific addresses and apply configured boundaries in supported patient workflows.

Sentinel stores addresses separately on patient and case records. Case records can retain an investigation-specific address, coordinates and jurisdiction assignments, supporting historical analysis independently of the patient's current address.

Disease-specific settings determine which cases are considered for address-update review when a patient address changes. Settings include review windows relative to onset, jurisdiction-crossing checks and inheritance from a parent disease. Manually overridden case addresses are identified for review rather than automatically replaced.

Sentinel supports shapefile imports for jurisdiction boundaries. Patient creation and editing can use geocoded coordinates to identify matching boundaries and populate jurisdiction fields.

Automatic assignment depends on usable coordinates, configured boundaries and the intake workflow. Jurisdiction assignment in the separate HL7 background-geocoding workflow is not currently completed.
