Sentinel uses versioned survey templates to collect information through conditional questions, validation and branching. Surveys can be assigned with tasks and used for case interviews, patient questionnaires or data-quality activities.
Epidemiologists and administrators with appropriate permissions can configure survey logic and expressions. These can prefill available information, derive dates and perform supported calculations.
For example, a configured expression can calculate a relevant date and display it within the interviewer's instructions. The contact tracer or interviewer reads the resulting information on screen rather than performing the calculation manually.
Field mappings connect responses to structured patient, case, symptom, exposure, laboratory-result and task data. Each mapping specifies the target field, handling of existing values and whether to save automatically, request review, require approval or skip the value.
Collection mappings process repeated response rows into related records. Mapping previews show proposed changes before execution.
Survey completion is included in the standard deployment. The optional SurveyJS Creator visual designer has separate deployment and vendor requirements. Configured expressions and mappings should be tested against representative scenarios.
